Pacific Avenue and parts of Front Street and other streets will be closed to cars 10 a.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Police anticipate about 25,000 revelers on Pacific Avenue and surrounding streets and plan to write triple-fine tickets in a “safety enhancement zone” downtown from 6 p.m. Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday. The zone includes Pacific Avenue and is bounded by River, Spruce, Sycamore and Center streets.
There also will be a tow-away zone for cars from 5 p.m. Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday on Front Street and on parts of Walnut Avenue, Church Street and Locust Street near Pacific Avenue.
Uncle Steiny is a legend. Nicest man with a heart of gold. Not only are we neighbors, but we get to call him and his family our friends. He and Dave Gardner just had a show in San Francisco and he gave me his first zine. All photos are taken by him and most are compiled on his blog: Harmless Neighborhood Eccentric
Just wanted to say that I love this blog. Even though I didn't grow up there, and haven't lived there in a while, Santa Cruz will always be my home.
Why thank you! That’s very nice of you to say.
I’ve been majorly slacking lately. Y’all should submit some grimy weird shit for me to post. None of this whimsical magical artsy SC BS. I want the haps and the nitty gritty y’all. Oh, and please photos only. Unless it’s praise for this blog. SUBMIT. ASK. -Ricky
Dude there are like 14 pro-lifers on campus. Let them have their unpopular protest. Are their signs about as misleading as the ultra-liberal ones can be? Two sides of the same coin. The crazy activist coin. In a sense, they possess the oppressed viewpoint, so wouldn’t it make sense that they protest?
Anyway, sorry for injecting my opinion. If y’all are interested, hit up cowboysaurus. Cheers. -Ricky
I’m trying to organize a pro-choice rally at UCSC so I was wondering if you could help spread the word. :)
If you’ve been by the UCSC bookstore this week, you’ve probably noticed the appalling, misleading, and triggeringanti-choice signs/literature that have been in the Quarry. And if you’ve seen it, you’ve probably been filled with rage.
I want to organize a pro-choice counter protest ASAP (like for some time next week). If anyone is interested in helping me organize this or staying up to date on what’s happening, please send a message to my ask box. Santa Cruz declared itself a Pro-Choice City in 2007 and we need to show the pro-lifers that their message, based on fear and manipulation, is not welcome here.
