This blog is simple. We want you, YES YOU, to participate. We want to document Santa Cruz art, culture, nightlife, bar culture, whatever you see on the street, kooks, beggars, tweakers, hipsters, hippies, surfers, punkers, rockers, over-the-hillers, etc. Anyone can submit photos really easily, just click here. Do it! Enjoy.

Occupy Santa Cruz at 75 River St. has a tumblr. Their “Adverse Possession” argument would be valid, but they’d have to occupy the space for 5 years, while paying property taxes (As I understand it). Their tone of permanence, that this is a “Community Center” for Santa Cruz and will indefinitely be benefitting the community is deeply misguided and unrealistic. Then again, so is the entire action. Their claim that they entered without breaking & entering is likely untrue, despite there being no signs of forced entry. Word on the street is there was a key lock box that went “missing”. Either way they’ve broken a slough of laws and will be shut down any moment now. AND FOR WHAT. -Ricky
