This blog is simple. We want you, YES YOU, to participate. We want to document Santa Cruz art, culture, nightlife, bar culture, whatever you see on the street, kooks, beggars, tweakers, hipsters, hippies, surfers, punkers, rockers, over-the-hillers, etc. Anyone can submit photos really easily, just click here. Do it! Enjoy.
Fuck Yeah Santa Cruz

The light that this splinter group of Occupy Santa Cruz shines on their cause baffles me.  Their Robin Hood-esque claim of taking, or “reclaiming” the space and giving it back to the community is an exceptionally short-sighted guise for a brand of idealism that exists on another planet from the majority of residents of Santa Cruz.  There are dozens of community centers and spaces in Santa Cruz available legally to the public.  Why not go to Louden Nelson?  And if your goal is to truly serve the community in a sustained manner, why choose the unstable and obviously temporary route of illegally breaking into and trespassing on private property?  Do you really think you’ll have a chance to serve the community in a productive way before getting shut down?  In a town filled with amazing social and community services, how arrogant and deluded must this group be to claim that they offer anything except a foolish agenda that has nothing to do with giving back to the community.  75 River Street, Santa Cruz is not behind you.  -Ricky

Some early ideas on how to use the 75River community space. We organize by a consensus process, and hear the ideas of one and all. Turns out that the people of Santa Cruz have some great ones!
