This blog is simple. We want you, YES YOU, to participate. We want to document Santa Cruz art, culture, nightlife, bar culture, whatever you see on the street, kooks, beggars, tweakers, hipsters, hippies, surfers, punkers, rockers, over-the-hillers, etc. Anyone can submit photos really easily, just click here. Do it! Enjoy.

Saw this on my walk to work this morning. Fullspectrumdemocracy for vague but well-intentioned improvements to public policymaking. -Ricky

I was at the Antiques fair downtown a few weeks back and I saw this lovely gentleman and his soldier friend, who chose not to pose for the camera. (Submitted by nachosandtoesocks) (NOTE: The antique fair is ever 2nd Sunday)

It would totally confuse a tranny kook ahhh-h-h-h-h-h-h. Kidding. Tranny comes from Transient which means you’re not from ‘round these parts. -Ricky
This graffiti just confuses me.
While downtown today I ran into a man selling HUGE hand made dream catchers. They were so beautiful, and he was very friendly. He had a car covered in chalk writing and had a basket of chalk allowing anyone to draw or write on it. This is a picture of the hibiscus flower I drew on it. I love the beautiful people in SC! WOW LOOK AT THE POSITIVE DIFFERENCE YOU’RE TRULY MAKING. YOU’RE 19 AND HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT! -RICKY
18-foot banner hung from what looks to be the North Branciforte overpass. An expression of solidarity with arrested comrades in Seattle. “Special thanks to the SCPD for donating materials.”
“Welcome to Santa Cruz. Now Get Out!” But seriously…(Submitted by linabeann)
Editor’s rant: While I acknowledge the need for tourism to support the local Santa Cruz economy, I can’t help but feel frustrated by the tourists themselves. They’re just awful sometimes. Pack your trash, observe pedestrian and bicycle laws and keep your impractically large and aimless families in line. Santa Cruz is not an amusement park built exclusively for your cheap vacation. Some people reside here. -Ricky
