This blog is simple. We want you, YES YOU, to participate. We want to document Santa Cruz art, culture, nightlife, bar culture, whatever you see on the street, kooks, beggars, tweakers, hipsters, hippies, surfers, punkers, rockers, over-the-hillers, etc. Anyone can submit photos really easily, just click here. Do it! Enjoy.

Police call Monday’s stabbing of downtown Santa Cruz business owner ‘unprovoked and random’
The lady stabbed to death yesterday was co-owner of Camouflage, Shannon Collins. This is really awful.
My buddy The Baron, aka DVDA made a brilliant Santa Cruz blog called sentinelglitch. If you’re an avid reader of the online edition of the Santa Cruz Sentinel, you may have noticed their photos are often unintentionally glitched-out, likely a bug in their system. A bug they seem to be comfortable living with. The Baron finds them and posts them. The result? A really interesting and artistic out-of-context collection of SC photography.

Johnny’s Barbershop
Now I know you don’t like to think too much about style or personal grooming, but hear me out. The art of barbering has been lost in a sea of supercuts for too long. They’ve taken advantage of and capitalized on the apathy you have towards your personal appearance, cranking out shitty haircuts that are never quite what you asked for. Well, there’s a new barber in town and he just opened a shop on the West Side by Safeway. Go in and get a haircut, sure, but you must also get a straight razor shave. Don’t wuss out, don’t say that it costs too much or think you’re not interested. Get shaven by a professional. Seriously just do it. It is MAGNIFICENT. Haven’t been in yet, but he seems real proper. I’ll report back. -Ricky

Pretty big news for downtown.
Surfing sucks, don’t try it.
